A project sponsored by iHome to research, develop, design, and prototype a product with the possibility of production. Worked closely with marketing to develop demographics and target areas of opportunity among competitors.
Developed four original concepts and two fully designed prototypes between two groups. The market opportunity found was to expand iHomes product range by using modern design styling, along with increased audio and build quality, creating a more premium product.

Early concept that was voted too radical by for iHome's more minimal design aesthetic.
The model was made using urethane tooling foam to represent the plastic shell used to house all the components.

Front face was laser cut acrylic, with 3d printed speaker grills. The 3d printer allowed us to use the 3d model we created for renderings to help create the physical model.
During the final weeks of the project, the original iPad was officially announced along with its measurments. This led to last minute design changes to take into account for this before the final presentation. The entire model was made longer to allow the iPad to rest between the two speakers.
Concept sketches for the first iHome project, inspired by the aesthetic of the speakers floating in air, resting in a front face of acrylic.
